Chocolate Lollipops

July 30, 2009

The library kitchen was taken over by Carry and her “chocolate lollipop” crew yesterday.  Carry brought lots of different colors of chocolate for the workshop participants. They chose their colors and after Carry melted the chocolate, they carefully put it into 2 different molds, then inserted lollipop sticks.  After a few minutes in the freezer: Voilá! Yummy lollipops! They made flower & ice cream cone lollipops.  Here are photos of the final products:

Don’t miss these if you travel to Boston with your kids

July 27, 2009

If you go to Boston, you may want to visit The Curious George Bookstore in Cambridge – they have every Curious George item you can imagine, plus lots of other terrific children’s books and toys. Also, be sure to visit the “Make Way for Ducklings” sculpture in the Public Garden. Lots of fun for kids and Children’s Librarians!

Kids are cooking again!

July 24, 2009

Children enjoyed another delicious afternoon at the Ossining Public Library as they prepared and ate Banana Dogs. Using bananas instead of hot dogs, the children sliced “pickles” (kiwi) and “chips” (pineapple), and added “ketchup” (jelly) and “mustard” (icing) to their banana dogs. And best of all, they got to eat them!

Kids Cook With Carry!

July 10, 2009

All the children who attended the first session of Cooking With Carry at the Ossining Public Library yesterday had a great time! They sliced, mashed, spooned, and decorated as they made Strawberry Dogs. And then, best of all, they got to eat what they created. You can see the rest of the photos by clicking here.

We made collages with Michael Albert

July 9, 2009

Yesterday Michael Albert, a terrific artist, came to lead 2 workshops for our kids. At 2:00 pm the kindergarten to 2nd graders came to hear how Michael became an artist and to see his work, which is displayed in the book: An Artist’s America. Then they all made their own collages and drawings; the older kids did the same thing at 3:30.  After the workshops, Michael gave each child a gift – a postcard and a signed poster.  Everybody had a great time and lots of beautiful work was created!

Here are a few photos from the workshops:
