What we do when we’re not in the library

Ossining Public Library Children’s Librarians Judy and Debbie were lucky to be able to attend Bookfest @ Bank Street this past Saturday.

It was a real treat! The day began with a discussion of Margaret Wise Brown (author of Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny, and many,  many more) with author Leonard Marcus and others. We then broke into book discussion sessions. Debbie’s group had a very spirited discussion about historical fiction, and Judy’ group discussed award-winning information books.

In the afternoon, we listened to keynote speaker Laurie Halse Anderson, who spoke about her new book, Forge, a sequel to Chains. We have both books here in the Children’s Room.

The afternoon ended on a fun, informative, and very funny note, with a discussion with Jon Scieszka, Mac Barnett, and David Yoo, three of the writers of Guys Read: Funny Business (also available in the Children’s Room). This is how their talk began:
This was followed by a very lively discussion, a great way to end a great day. Here’s a photo of the funny guys:
