Summer vacations are over, school has begun again, and here in the Children’s Room of the Ossining Public Library we are looking forward to beginning our children’s programming on Monday.
We’ll be welcoming back all the old favorites for the younger set: Mother Goose Time, Baby Laptime, Preschool Pals, Time for Twos, and Planes, Trains, & Automobiles. With the addition of 2 more hours the library is open on Saturdays, we’re bringing back our very popular Saturday morning Family Storytime, at 11:30. The Bookworms Book Club begins meeting again on September 20 (preregister, please).
We’ve got some exciting new programs this fall, too, which are for school age children.
Monday Night Football (Mondays 7-8 pm) is for 5th and 6th graders. The players will build and manage a team of fantastical football players in this gaming league. You must register for this program.
On select Wednesday nights in September and October children in 3rd grade and up can come to Around the Campfire (7-7:30 pm) for chilling tales and spine-tingling stories. On some October and November evenings 2nd graders and above can attend Swashbuckling Stories (7-7:30 pm) to hear pirate tales and nautical adventures.
Thursday afternoons (4:15 -4:45 pm–check schedule for dates) children in kindergarten and 1st grade can join us for Thrilling Thursdays. Listen to humorous tales from around the world and do a related craft project.
Children in grades 3 and up can come to Make Your Own Comics on Fridays (4:15-5 pm–check schedule for dates), where they can write and illustrate their own original comic.
Check our schedule for all dates and times, for more information, and for Special Programs. We look forward to seeing everyone!
