On Wednesday, 14 competitive children split in to 4 teams for the Children’s Room first ever “Minute-to-Win-It” Program!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with “Minute-to-Win-It”, it is a game show in which contestants must race against the clock to complete simple tasks (using household items) in 60 seconds. Usually, there are 10, 1 minute challenges in each episode of the television game show. In our version we had 4 main challenges and an additional super difficult tie-breaker challenge.
Our first challenge was called the “Skittle Sort”. For this challenge, two members of each team were each given 30 seconds to separate a bowl of skittles by color.
The second challenge was called “Dizzy Mummy”. In this challenge two new team members had 60 seconds to work together to wind themselves up in a roll of toilet paper without it breaking. This ended up being a lot harder than it looked.
The third challenge, called “Elephant Walk”, was definitely a competitor favorite. In this challenge, team members had to wear a pair of pantyhose on their heads. Using a tennis ball in one leg of the pantyhose, the team members had to swing their heads back and forth to knock over as many bottles as they could before the ran out of time.
The last challenge was called “Junk in the Trunk”. In this challenge, contestants had to wiggle their backsides in order to get Ping-Pong balls out of the boxes strapped to their backs.
The final challenge resulted in a tie. The tied teams competed in a tough tie breaker challenge called “Yank Me”. In this challenge, competitors had to build a tower of cups and index cards. Then, very quickly and carefully they had to remove the index cards in order to stack the cups.
Team Four emerged victorious as the “Minute-to-Win-It” champions!!
Everyone who participated in the game and in the audience left with a free book.
Thank you to everyone who competed!!
