What’s growing in your garden?

Books about gardens

Today’s Ready, Set, Kindergarten! was all about gardens. This time of year everyone’s garden is bursting with lots of good things.

One of the books we enjoyed reading today was  My Garden, by Kevin Henkes, and this book was the inspiration for today’s craft. We had some very imaginative gardens.

We also helped the old man and the old woman pull their enormous turnip out of the ground. And we played a game sorting things that grow in a garden from things that don’t.

The Enormous Turnip

Here are some of the great gardens the kids made today:

This garden is growing money.

He’s growing pizza, cookies, and a lollipop.

This was our last Ready, Set, Kindergarten for the summer. Beginning September 13, we’ll have a brand new program in this time slot–Rhythm & Rhyme, a music and movement program for kids up to age 5.
